υγος, ἡ, edge or rim of anything round or curved; and so, in Hom. (only in Il.); rim of round shield, 11.6.118, al., E. Rh. 373 (lyr.).

Il. der runde Schildrand, ἄντυξ ἣ πυμάτη θέεν ἀσπίδος 6.118, σάκεος 18.608, u. ohne diesen Zusatz 14.412, 20.275 ; – die beiden gerundeten Seitenwände des Wagenstuhles, δοιαὶ δὲ περίδρομοι ἄντυγές εἰσιν 5.728, die vorn in einen runden Knopf zusammenliefen, um den man die Zügel beim Stillhalten band, ἐξ ἄντυγος ἡνία τείνας 5.262 ; ἱππικῶν ἐξ ἀντύγων πρισθείς Soph. Aj. 1010. Il. 21.38 kann man auch an die Räder denken ; aber 11.535 sind ἄντυγες αἱ περὶ δίφρον die Seitenwände ; vgl. Hes. Sc. 64 ; Plat. Theaet. 207a ; Luc. D.D. 25.2 ; Wagensitz Eur.
