η, ον, an Adj. descriptive of gait and carriage, defined as τὸ φαῦλον καὶ διερρυηκός by Sch. Ar. V. 1169; σαῦλα ποσὶν βαίνουσα, applied to the gait of the tortoise, straddling, waddling, h.Merc. 28; of the loose, wanton gait of courtesans or Bacchantes, σ. βαίνειν Anacr. 168; σαῦλαι Βασσαρίδες Id. 55; also of a prancing horse, σ. βαίνειν, ἵππος ὡς κορωνίης Semon. 18.

von jeder zierlichen, gezierten Bewegung, zärtlich, weichlich ; Διονύσου σαῦλαι βασσαρίδες, Hephaest. p. 40 ; Schol. Ar.
