      1 qui descend jusqu’aux pieds, en parl. d’une robe, d’un vêtement, EUR. Bacch. 833 ; XÉN. Cyr. 6, 4, 2 ; d’un bouclier, XÉN. An. 1, 8, 9 ; Cyr. 6, 2, 10, etc. ;

ες, reaching to the feet, πέπλοι, χιτὼν π., a robe that falls over the feet, E. Ba. 833, X. Cyr. 6.4.2, Paus. 5.19.6, etc. (later ποδήρης alone (sc. χιτών) of the High Priest΄s robe, LXX Ex. 25.6, Aristeas 96); π. ἀσπίς large shield which covered the body down to the feet, X. ες, bis auf die Füße reichend, sie berührend ; πέπλοι ποδήρεις, Eur. Bacch. 831 ; χιτών, Xen. Cyr. 6.4.2 ; auch ἀσπίς, 6.2.10 ; Folgde : auch πώγων, Plut. ad. et am. discr. 9.
Bei Aesch. ist στύλος ποδήρης ὑψηλῆς στέγης ein hoher Pfeiler, Ag. 872, u. τὰ ποδήρη, neben χερῶν ἄκρους κτένας, ib. 1576, sind die Füße selbst.
Nach Hesych. auch ein Schiff, das Ruder statt der Füße hat.
