ἡ, also ὁ, Longus 3.27 codd. ; — = ἄγνος, agnus castus, Vitex Agnus-castus, withy; in pl., its twigs or withes, τοὺς [the rams] συνέεργον ἐϋστρεφέεσσι λύγοισι Od. 9.427, cf. 10.166, E. Cyc. 225, etc. ; in δίδη μόσχοισι λύγοισι Il. 11.105, λύγοισι is the specific word added to the generic μόσχοισι (cf. σῦς κάπρος, ἴρηξ κίρκος, etc.); in late Prose, Arr. Fr. 153 J. ; used for wreaths, στεφανοῦται λύγῳ Anacr. 41; cf. λύγινος. λυγῶς (sic cod., fort. λυγός) screw-press used by carpenters, Hsch. (but perh. λυγῶ<δε>ς).

τὸ, nach EM. = σκότος. Vgl. λύγη.

ἡ, selten ὁ, jeder junge, biegsame, zum Flechten geeignete Zweig, neben κλάδος u. φιτρός genannt, Arist. plant. 1.4 ; τοὺς ἀκέων συνέεργον ἐϋστρεφέεσσι λύγοισιν Od. 9.427, wo der Schol. erkl. ἱμαντῶδες φυτόν, wie ἐγὼ σπασάμην ῥῶπάς τε λύγους τε 10.166 ; aber Il. 11.105, δίδη μόσχοισι λύγοισι, scheint es adj., biegsam, zu sein ; und sonst bei Sp., vgl. Agath. 85 (VII.204), οὐκέτι – πέρδιξ, πλεκτὸς λεπταλέαις οἶκος ἔχει σε λύγοις, ein geflochtener Käfig. – Schol. Plat. Rep. III.143 erkl. μάστιγες ; vgl. Suid. – Zu Kränzen gebraucht, λύγος, ἀρχαῖον Καρῶν στέφος, Nicaenet. bei Ath. XV.673b, wo auch aus Anacr. angeführt ist στεφανοῦταί τε λύγῳ.
Nach Schol. od. a.a.O. war ὁ λύγος bei den Attikern = ἄγνος, eine bestimmte Weidenart.
Λυγός aber ist nach Hesych. στρεβλωτήριον ὄργανον, eine Schraube der Tischler, geleimtes Holz darein zu spannen.
