* Of or belonging to sandals: Apollo Sandaliarius, who had a statue in the Sandal-street (in the fourth region of Rome), Suet. Aug. 57.—Subst.: Sandălĭārĭus, ii, m. (sc. vicus), Sandal-street, Shoemakers'-street: in Sandaliario forte apud librarios fuimus,Gell. 18, 4, 1; cf. VICVS,Inscr. Grut. p. 79, 5.—Sandaliarius signifies also a sandal-maker in Inscr. Spon. Miscell. Ant. p. 114 (perh. in Plaut. Aul. 3, 5, 39, sandaliarii sutores should be read instead of sedentarii sutores).
