Autŏlycus (noun M) : Αὐτόλυκος
* Son of Mercury and Chione, father of Anticlea, and maternal grandfather of Ulysses (cf. Hom. Od. 11, 85), a very dexterous robber, who could transform himself into various shapes, Ov. M. 11, 313; Serv. ad Verg. A. 2, 79; Mart. 8, 59.—Hence, meton., a thievish man: Autolyco hospiti aurum credidi,Plaut. Bacch. 2, 3, 41 Ritschl.
