* A very rocky promontory in Epirus, running out into the Ionian Sea, now Glossa, called by the Italians Linguetta (the mountain to which it belongs was called Ceraunii montes or Ceraunia; see this art.): infamīs scopulos Acroceraunia,Hor. C. 1, 3, 20; the same in sing.: promontorium Acroceraunium,Plin. 3, 11, 15, § 97; for any dangerous place: haec tibi sint Syrtes; haec Acroceraunia vita,Ov. R. Am. 739.
