Subst., of projecting teeth, tusks, tushes, ἔχει [ὁ κροκόδειλος] ὀδόντας μεγάλους καὶ χαυλιόδοντας Hdt. 2.68; τετράπουν χαυλιόδοντας φαῖνον, of the hippo-potamus, Id. 2.71, cf.
