ὁ, bei Theophr. auch ἡ, ein Edelstein, smaragdus ; Her. 2.44 ; Plat. Phaed. 110d ; wohl nicht immer unser Smaragd, sondern auch Beryll, auch hellgrüner, durchsichtiger Flußspath ; man scheint übh. alle grünen Krystalle, auch grüne Glasflüsse unter diesem Namen begriffen zu haben.
