τό, stick in a trap on which the bait is placed, and which, when touched by the animal, springs up and shuts the trap, Poll. 7.114, 10.156; metaph, σκανδάληθρ’ ἱστὰς ἐπῶν setting word-traps, i.e. throwing out words which one΄s adversary will catch at, and so be caught himself, Ar. Ach. 687, ubi v. Sch., cf. Cratin. 457; cf. σκάνδαλον.

τό, das krumme Stellholz in der Falle, an dem die Lockspeise sitzt, u. das, vom Tiere berührt, losprallt und die Falle zuschlagen macht, wie es Schol. Ar. Ach. 657 ausführlich erklärt, wo Ar. übertr. sagt κᾆτ' ἀνελκύσας ἐρωτᾷ, σκανδάληθρ' ἱστὰς ἐπῶν, u. Einige zusammenlesen wollten σκανδαληθριστάς, wie von σκανδαληθρίζω abgeleitet, welches nicht vorkommt.
