τά, front of a house (cf. ἐνώπια), ἐς προνώπι’ αὐτίχ’ ἥξει E. Ba. 639 (troch.); metaph in sg., τόδ’ ἔσχατον… χώρας Πελοπίας π., of Troezen, the outer portal of Peloponnesus, Id. Hipp. 374. as Adj., πῶς προνώπιος φαίνῃ πρὸς οἴκοις…; in front, before the door, Id. Ba. 645. ἥρωες π., = Lares compitales, D.H. 4.14. (Acc. to Eust. for πρό, ἐνώπια, i.e. τὰ πρὸ τῶν ἐνωπίων ; but the etym. is doubtful.)
