Étym. κοτύλη, ἀρύω¹.

ον, (< ἀρύω) that can be drawn in cups, i.e.
flowing copiously, streaming, αἷμα Il. 23.34. ὄξος κ.
a measure of vinegar, Nic. Th. 539.

(ἀρύω), mit Bechern zu schöpfen, d.i. reichlich fließend ; αἷμα Il. 23.34 ; ὄξος, d.i. eine Kotyle Essig, Nic. Th. 539 ; nach Ath. XI.479a ὃ ἀμφοτέραις ταῖς χερσὶν ἀρυσθῆναι δύναται ; vgl. κοτύλη u. Schol. Eur. Hipp. 122. – Die Schreibart κοτυλήρρυτος, auf der Ableitung von ῥέω beruhend, ist auch nach den Erklärungen der Alten falsch.
