Colonus, deme of Attica, sacred to the hero Colonus (ἱππότης Κ. S. OC 59); Οἰδίπους ἐπὶ Κολωνῷ, title of play by Sophocles; — hence Κολωνεύς, έως, ὁ, one of the deme Colonos, IG 2.944.48. Κ. ἀγοραῖος, mound in the Athenian ἀγορά, Κολωνόν…, οὐ τὸν ἀγοραῖον, ἀλλὰ τὸν τῶν ἱππέων Pherecr. 134; labourers were hired there, Com.Adesp. 35 D., hence called Κολωνέται or Κολωνῖται, Hyp. Fr. 8.
