Der Zusammenhang mit σίνομαι, σίνος ist klar, -μωρος aber dieselbe Ableitungssilbe, welche in ἐγχεσίμωρος, ἰόμωρος, ὑλακόμωρος vorkommt (σινόμωρος, welche Form analoger gebildet wäre, ist schon von den alten Gramm. verworfen, vgl. <font color='green'>Wesseling<\/font> Her. 1.152 u. <font color='green'>Jacobs<\/font> in <font color='green'>Wolfs<\/font> <i>Anal<\/i>. 3 p. 30), und die verschieden gedeutet wird, verwüstungstoll, naschtoll, oder dem das Beschädigen, Naschen gleichsam zu Teil geworden (μόρος)."
