Theocr<\/i>. 4.62, wo der Name deswegen auf σάθων zurückgeführt wird.<br\/>Bei Hes. frg. 13.2 kommen schon mehrere Satyrn als Waldgottheiten vor, ohne daß ihre Gestalt bestimmt würde, vgl. <font color='green'>Voß<\/font> <i>mythol. Briefe<\/i> II p. 247 f u. Virg. <i>Ecl<\/i>. 6.13 ; nach Neuern unterscheidet er sich vom gehörnten Pan und Faun dadurch, daß er ungehörnt dargestellt wurde.<br\/><b>2)<\/b> wegen der Aehnlichkeit <i>eine Art geschwänzter Affen<\/i> ; Arist. <i>gen.an<\/i>. 4.3 ; vgl.
